In 2020 I celebrated two key milestones. One was the 10-year anniversary of my business, New England Sales & Marketing. The other was the 30-year anniversary of my college graduation. Both events really got me thinking about the hundreds of people I’ve encountered in the past 30 years, and the impact they’ve had on others.
To mark these milestones, I decided to collect the 30 best pieces of career advice from 30 influential members of my personal network, many of whom have been working for 30 years.
I’ve been overwhelmed by the response – and I hope you will be too! Each person has provided truly thoughtful words of wisdom based in their own rich experiences.
It’s been amazing seeing each of these individuals put their advice into action and progress through their own careers. I’ve watched high school friends take leadership roles they would have never imagined. Some of those fabulous “bosses” have moved into CEO roles. An array of more recent colleagues, customers, and connections have followed their passions with completely unexpected and exciting results.
We all have gold in our networks – in the form of great people who are willing to talk, share, advise, commiserate, analyze, and influence. I encourage us all to keep in closer touch and nurture our networks.
I hope you find the advice on the following pages helpful, and remember, never stop reaching out and renewing your relationships!
